OFF BALANCE?

Every day, every single day, curveballs abound messages, clues, stuff to take a look at through a fresh lens. Hard to do at mock speed, isn’t it? When is it enough? When are we willing to slow down and breathe? Some folks rest in the retirement home, some, don't’ make it there. Sound morbid? Sure can be, literally. This would be known as distress.

Long term chronic off-balance leads to distress. Distress leads to illness, sometimes a cold, sometimes worse. Are you willing to wait for that wake-up call?

The ability to come back to center each day, takes the stress of the day, the off balancedness and applies coping skills such as the breath, meditation, exercise, nutrition, writing out feelings, focusing on gratitude(even the smallest moments) saying what we need to say to the people in our life, releasing toxic people, and celebrating.

Pick one, give it a try for 30 days. You are now asking, how do I celebrate for 30 days straight?

YOU CAN'T BE AFRAID WHEN YOUR LAUGHING

One of the best pieces of advice heard recently was by Bernie Siegel, MD, pediatric oncology surgeon, philosopher, a pioneer in mind-body medicine, best selling author, humanitarian. He says that “laughing, for no apparent reason,” was one of the keys to a healthy, long-lived life. So, he suggests in many interviews, to laugh often throughout the day, and I add, especially if you are feeling stressed or unfocused.

There are literally hundreds of thousands of ways to make this happen.

  • Look at old photos of yourself as a child, or of your children.
  • Google anything having to do with the Comedy that moves you, and in 3 min, you are healed.
  • Play a small prank on an office coworker.
  • Read over posts on your Facebook. Most are hilarious, when put into the right perspective.
  • Call a funny friend…..Now.
  • Walk through every room of your house, and surrender to the fact  that you will never have the entire place picked up….Ever. Give it up, and Giggle.

What the heck is life coaching anyway? Most people faintly understand the value of hiring a life coach. First, and yes, you HIRE someone.

Which means you must value this: YOURSELF.

This means you are at a place in your being or becoming that is stuck or moving in slow motion, you might be in a place of extreme pain, confusion, or contemplation. You are under “being”, not who you really know you can be, not living in joy, not feeling radiant, not exuding confidence.

Why a life coach? Because you are looking for a shift and sadly the voice of sabotage in your head keeps you from finding it, believing it, and taking the next best step to own it.

Sometimes you have no idea what it is that you are looking for….sometimes you just plain feel like crap! And as I describe it…..like you are walking through molasses being pelted by cinder blocks!

PANDORA UP

The absolutely simplest way to begin to Wake Up to and Shift From the voice of self-sabotage is this:

Pretend that the thoughts that flow through your mind each day (and there are hundreds of thousands of them daily, the majority of which you have been hearing for years now) pretend they are simply like a Pandora Music Station. Songs of one genre typically stream in.

In the beginning, you have no idea what Station to call in, so you’re hearing the same ole, same ole. Except that NOW, you can mentally click the thumbs down button, or Forward button, to skip to the next thought. You are not attached to that thought. No one will be angry that you didn’t like that thought and chose to skip to the next one. No one!

Feel the freedom of this!!!

Take a few deep breaths….

Once you get good at this….and it might take a week of daily skipping, you can NOW choose the station you want to listen to.

LIKE CHEETAH MAGIC

I was driving from Pennsylvania to Ohio one spring day to meet up with some women on my team. 6 hours seemed like 45 min. I was caught up in thought.

I wondered if a cheetah felt like I did --- high, determined, and intentional. When it was on the hunt. I suspected it did.

Do you ever feel this way? High, electric, streaming, focused, joy-filled. To clarify….I wasn’t on a hunt, but I was in a blissful hypnotic state.

Cheetahs, as most of us know, are the fastest land animal on earth.

It’s not just their speed alone that comes to my mind though. What else was there?

I read on to find out that most female cheetahs are loners, independent, except for some mother-daughter pairs. Males are more social and typically group together for life. They use their tails for navigation when they are in pursuit of prey, the key to acceleration and quick change in direction. Cheetahs hunt by vision rather than scent, usually in the early morning or dusk hours, when other predators...
